To mark Prince George’s third birthday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a series of photographs taken by photographer Matt Porteous at the family home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate. A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs. They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his third birthday.”

A few days earlier George accompanied his parents on his first official engagement, to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. It was all thrillingly new for George, but there was a tearful moment or two before he gained the confidence to enjoy the experience. With his parents’ close at hand, and wearing a pair of ear defenders to block out the deafening noise, he was shown around the cockpit of a military jet and a helicopter.
